Dodgers now 9th in 4A RPI rankings

By The Messenger Sports staff 1 min read

The Fort Dodge football squad is ninth in the latest Iowa High School Athletic Association Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) rankings for Class 4A.

The Dodgers (6-1 overall), who were seventh a week ago, are coming off a 35-0 victory at Storm Lake last Friday. This week's Homecoming contest against No. 12 Le Mars (4-3) will ostensibly decide runner-up honors and the final playoff berth for District 1. The loser must try to earn an at-large bid for the postseason.

The six district champions and runner-ups in 4A receive automatic playoff bids, with four wild card squads also advancing. Fort Dodge closes the regular season on Oct. 24 at Sioux City West (1-6).

In Class 3A, Humboldt (4-3) is 13th, Webster City (2-5) is 22nd and Algona (3-4) is 23rd. The Wildcats face No. 4 Sioux City Heelan on Friday, followed by a contest at Sioux Center on Oct. 24 that will likely determine the runner-up in District 1.

Humboldt has won its last two games.
