Porter, Bartlett headed to Florida

St. Edmond’s Blake Bartlett and Hayden Porter of Fort Dodge have both been selected to compete in Florida with The Spects National Baseball Team this month.

The freshman baseball players will compete in the WWBA Freshman World Championships, an event that draws elite talent from across the United States.

Bartlett started 22 games as an eighth-grader for the Gaels this past summer, recording 19 hits with 13 runs scored and six RBI. He had a .943 fielding percentage and won two games on the mound with a team-leading 55 strikeouts.

Porter appeared in 21 games and made 15 starts as an eighth-grader for the Dodgers, recording 14 hits and 11 RBI with nine runs scored.

The WWBA Freshman World Championships are hosted by Perfect Game and held in West Palm Beach, Fla.
