Humboldt teammates go 1-2 at Bell Invite in Eagle

EAGLE GROVE — The Humboldt girls cross country team raced to a runner-up finish here Tuesday at the Dick Bell Invitational hosted by Eagle Grove.

Race winner Avery Fisher led the way for the Wildcats, as she clocked a time of 19:53.99. Teammate Brynn Malo (19:56.76) was second, while Aubry Fisher (20:36.51) finished fifth and Macey Rodgers (22:37.73) was 16th overall.

Forest City won both team titles for the event. Algona took third on the girls side, Emmetsburg fourth, Bishop Garrigan sixth and Webster City seventh.

Julia Swift of Bishop Garrigan was third at 20:06.72, while Algona’s Mara Davis (21:47.44) placed 11th. Isabel Grossoehme of Webster City was 12th in 21:58.53. Myka Anderson of Eagle Grove finished 22nd overall in 23:05.52.

Gavin Weber claimed another boys gold for Algona, who finished second overall. Weber rolled with a time of 16:24.91, crossing the tape 45 seconds ahead of the runner-up.

Justin Callahan of Webster City was seventh (17:47.48) and Humboldt’s Henry Kramer closed in 12th (18:12.73).

Webster City plaed third overall, Eagle Grove was seventh and Humboldt ninth in the boys team standings.

The Eagles were paced by Felix Reyes, who took 22nd in 19:17.00. Hunter Waldo Martinez (19:18.85) was right behind in 25th.

Emmetsburg’s Benjamin Cox finished eighth in 17:56.47. Webster City teammates Aidan Wardell (19:07.91) and Jack Barner (19:12.96) were 20th and 21st, respectively.
