Easy win for Dodger girls
The Fort Dodge girls tennis team dominated at the nets here on Tuesday, besting Des Moines East/Des Moines North, 10-1.
Manuela Rodriguez, Madge Hensley, Mia Carpenter, Grace Rivera, Teagan Loots and Brooklyn Kaloupek were all winners in singles for the Dodgers.
Rodriguez, playing the No. 1 position, Rivera and Loots all posted 6-0, 6-0 victories.
In doubles, Rodriguez and Carpenter won by matching set scores of 6-0, 6-0, as Rivera and Hensley, Loots and Kaloupek, and Taylor Cote and Taylor Martin added straight-set victories.
“We put an emphasis on jumping out to early leads in each match,” FDSH head coach Julie Astor said. “From there, we wanted to step on the gas pedal and finish. All of the girls played well.
“We keep seeing continued improvement with each meet and that’s all I can ask of them as we move closer and closer to the postseason.”
Fort Dodge closes out the week with a tough test at Ames on Thursday. They return home for a final time next Tuesday to play Des Moines with road duals at Des Moines Lincoln and Boone to close out the year.
