Dodger girls lose a pair

URBANDALE — The Fort Dodge girls tennis team dropped a pair of duals here Friday.

The Dodgers fell to Norwalk, 10-1, and Urbandale, 11-0.

Picking up the lone win for Fort Dodge was No. 1 Manuela Rodriguez, as the senior downed Logan Geisler of Norwalk, 8-0.

Grace Rivera dropped a tough 8-4 decision at No. 4 singles to Elena Harder while Teagan Loots won three games at No. 5. In doubles, Rodriguez and Madge Hensley battled to an 8-4 loss at the top position to Geisler and Kierdyn Stockwell.

In the dual with Urbandale, Rivera lost 9-7 to Sydney Thielman while Rodriguez suffered an 8-3 defeat to Danni Pederson. In doubles, Rodriguez and Hensley were clipped, 8-5, to Pederson and Thielman.

Fort Dodge returns home to host Des Moines East on Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m. before heading to Ames on Thursday.
