McLaren named assistant AD at Iowa Central

Lacee McLaren will be the new assistant athletic director at Iowa Central Community College beginning July 1, the school officially announced in a recent statement.

The Iowa Falls High School, Ellsworth Community College and University of Northern Iowa graduate has been at ICCC since 2010, when she was hired to be an assistant volleyball coach and the school’s assistant coordinator of student activities. McLaren then became the assistant bookstore manager — a position she’s held ever since.

“We’re excited about the hiring of Lacee McLaren as our assistant athletic director,” said current athletic director Kevin Twait, who is retiring at the end of the month and will be replaced by Guy Horn. “I applaud our administration and Board of Trustees for having the foresight to create a full-time Assistant Athletic Director position. With over 30 athletic programs (and Women’s Rugby starting in August 2026) this position will be a tremendous asset to our athletic department.

“From the day-to-day operations of our department (compliance, eligibility, staffing, budgets, team travel, event management, and fundraising) there are always multiple moving parts. This position will be a great benefit to our coaches and will have a positive effect on the student-athlete experience at Iowa Central.”

McLaren played volleyball at Ellsworth. Her degree from UNI is in communication studies.

McLaren and her husband, Don, have two daughters: Haylee (11) and Kynlee (9).

“We are fortunate to have secured the services of Lacee McLaren to transition into this role. She has displayed the skill set needed to be successful in this position,” Twait said. “Lacee is highly organized, is a wonderful communicator, and has displayed the work ethic needed to be successful in her new role. She bleeds ‘Triton Blue’ and will be a tremendous asset to (incoming) athletic director Guy Horn and the entire Triton athletic department.”

McLaren is looking forward to the new challenge.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to serve as the assistant athletic director at Iowa Central. My commitment to the college, the students we serve, and my love for athletics have been the driving force in taking on this new role,” said McLaren. “Getting to work alongside our student athletes, coaches, and administrators to continue the growth and success of Iowa Central athletics is an absolute honor.

“I feel very fortunate to have found a home in Iowa Central when I moved to Fort Dodge 15 years ago, and being able to contribute in this capacity — doing something I am passionate about — truly feels like a dream.”
