A friendly rivalry

The Fort Dodge and St. Edmond softball teams played each other on Monday, with the Dodgers (13-2-1 overall on the year) and Gaels (16-2) splitting the twinbill. SEMS prevailed in the opener, 8-4, with FDMS taking the nightcap, 8-7. Grace Crimmins had two hits and scored twice in game one for the Gaels, with Grace Schlegel and Jaycee Arnold both knocking in a pair. Mckenna Fevold doubled and was the winning pitcher, with Crimmins notching the save. Emri Minkoff recorded two hits and an RBI for the Dodgers. Ava Osario stole three bases. Ava Greiner (FD), Charlie Olson (FD) and Piper Shirbroun (SE) had two steals each.

In game two, Greiner, Natalie Trost, Rylee Nelson and Ida Simpson tallied two hits each for Fort Dodge. Macy Cook and Nelson both stole three bases. Schlegel was 2-for-2 with three RBI to lead St. Edmond, while Shirbroun scored twice. Baylor Ulrich and Shirbroun both swiped a pair of bags.
