Gaels dominate Storm Lake

STORM LAKE — The St. Edmond girls tennis team picked up a 9-0 victory over Storm Lake here Monday evening.

Lauren Gibb, Payton Bradley, Ava Andrew, Cambree Lunn, Ava Underberg and Abby Huss were all winners in singles for the Gaels.

Gibb pulled out an 8-5 win at the No. 1 spot, with Bradley winning 9-7 at No. 2 singles. Underberg swept her opponent, 8-0.

“The girls played very well and battled hard,” SEHS head coach Shawn Neverman said. “It was really nice seeing a few of them win their close matches.”

In doubles, Gibb and Bradley, Andrew and Lunn, and Underberg and Chloe Palmer were all winners. Andrew and Lunn, along with Underberg and Palmer, dropped just one game each.

St. Edmond returns to action Tuesday when they host Clear Lake.

Picking up wins in junior varsity singles were Maddie Cripe, Nicole Mosier and Braelynn Rees. JV doubles winners included Nina Smith and Lucy Midtling, Cripe and Rees, Smith and Lizzie Tiernan, and Emily Mosier and Nicole Mosier.
