Gael boys win distance medley

STORM LAKE — The St. Edmond boys track team got in some last-minute action here Monday at the Storm Lake Invitational.

Securing a first place finish for the Gaels was the distance medley relay of Grant Galles, Klay Baker, Aaron Hindt and Anthony Valles. The quartet went 3:51.01 to place well ahead of the field.

Hunter Horn was the runner-up in the 400 hurdles and placed third in the high jump, while Valles (800) and Leo Ehn (discus) added fourth place finishes.

The sprint medley of Thomas Cosgrove, Ehn, Baker and Galles also placed fourth.

“It was nice to get in this meet because we’ve lost six this year,” SEHS head coach Donn Larson said. “We got to run up against some Class 3A and 2A teams, but you are only running against the clock in the end.

“The distance medley was within our PR with two new guys, Grant had a great night, as did several other guys.”

Horn had a PR in the 400 hurdles and Ehn in the discus.

St. Edmond is set to run Thursday in Clarion at the North Central Conference meet.
