Ava Underberg and Sasha Hess were key parts to a strong season on the court for the St. Edmond volleyball team this fall.

For their efforts, both made the all-North Central Conference team, the league recently announced.

Underberg, a sophomore, was on the second and Hess, a junior, made the third.

“Ava and Sasha were very deserving of these honors,” SEHS head coach John Johnson said. “Ava showed why she is an outstanding player, dominating matches for us. Sasha was always involved in our offense and kept our team energy up.”

First team selections from the area included unanimous pick Indy Johnson of Clarion-Goldfield/Dows along with Humboldt’s Mia Schluter and Kendall Works, Webster City’s Olivia Gallentine and Algona’s Najolie Price.

Xada Johnson of Clear Lake was the only other unanimous selection with Ella Sharar from Iowa Falls-Alden and Aubryee Showalter of Hampton-Dumont/CAL rounding out the first team.

Along with Underberg on the second were Humboldt’s Macey Varangkounh and Tayla Wempen, Algona’s Lainey Venteicher and Macy Knapp, Webster City’s Adeline Tesdahl and Elliot Ennis of Clarion-Goldfield/Dows.

Third team status went to Adysen Poppen and Delainey Bargfrede from Webster City, Lauren McLaughlin of Algona and Ady Askelsen of Clarion-Goldfield/Dows.

In conference-only matches, Underberg recorded 91 kills with 15 total blocks and three aces.

Hess against NCC teams had 134 digs with 11 aces and served at 89 percent. She also recorded 16 assists and three kills.
