Dodger bowlers open season

DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge bowling teams kicked their season off on the lanes here Tuesday night.

The Dodger girls picked up a 2,015-1,999 victory while the FDSH boys fell, 2,496-2,434.

Calli Graves had games of 171 and 191 for a 362 series to lead the way for the Dodgers with Amyrra Lumsden adding a 318. Sammantha Welter had a 244 followed by Sol Birkey (224), Samantha Anderson (220) and Baylee Wilson (218).

For the FD junior varsity, Felicity Strain had a 272 series and Natalie Anderson rolled a 228.

“It was good to get out there and get the first one under our belts,” FDSH head coach Nick Vinson said. “We knew going into this year that things were going to be different. We’ve still got plenty we need to work on, but we now have something to go off of.”

Trenton Beck paced the Dodger boys with a 412 behind games of 212 and 200. Josh Jass had a 326 followed by Dylan Crawford (318), Brian Keenan (314), Noah Winninger (312) and Evan Hage (303).

Slade Babb’s 306 paced the FD junior varsity with Blake Seeman adding a 246.

“We saw some good things with the girls and some not so good of things,” Vinson said. “With the boys, it’s tough coming off winning a state title with almost a completely new lineup.”

Next action for the Dodgers will be Monday when they host Des Moines Lincoln.
