Iowa Central third at national dual tourney

MIAMI, Ok. — The Iowa Central wrestling team scored a third place finish at the NWCA National Duals Championships.

After falling to Clackamas in the semifinals, the Tritons finished off North Idaho to secure the bronze trophy. Clackamas topped Western Wyoming for the team title.

On Friday, Iowa Central earned wins over Northwest (53-6) and Northeast Oklahoma A&M (23-19) to advance to the final four.

In the third place dual with North Idaho, Keaton Geerts, Nolan Miller-Johnston, Josh Ramirez, Jose Rodriguez, Colten Goodell and Jorden Pryor were all victorious. Geerts, Miller-Johnston, Rodriguez, Goodell and Pryor picked up bonus points, with Goodell and Pryor winning via fall.

Geerts, Rodriguez and Pryor finished with three victories, while Lane Cowell, Sammy Lile, Amir Pierce, Blake Geerts, Kade Campbell, Aidan Harris, Davian Gowens and Goodell each had one.

On Saturday, the Tritons scored wins over Neosho (34-18) and Colby (44-12), finishing the weekend 5-1 overall.

Iowa Central returns to action on Wednesday at Iowa Falls vs. Ellsworth.
