Dodger girls win four events

BOONE — The Fort Dodge girls track team had a strong start to their season here Thursday night.

The Dodgers claimed four event titles and finished second overall to Marshalltown at the Boone Invitational.

Aleaha Pommer won the long jump, Gracie Miller the discus and both the 4×2 and sprint medley relays were first.

“It was just an awesome night to run,” FDSH head coach Todd Constable said. “We were competitive up-and-down the lineup. It was fun to get out and run.”

Pommer had a jump of 15-2.5 to claim her event with Miller recording a toss of 96-7.

The 4×200 consisted of Keyonna Douglas, Haley Wills, Tory Bennett and Pommer, as they went 1:54.07 while the sprint medley was Tristin Doster, Wills, Bennett and Piera McBride. They finished in 2:01.02.

McBride was the runner-up in the 400 and the distance medley relay of Pommer, Bennett, Maia Davis and Alexis Ross placed second. Lainey Maehl (shot put), Martyne Lowrey (long jump) and Aliyah Henry (discus) were all third.

Sienna Attig won the junior varsity shot put and Davis the junior varsity long jump. Lowrey, Aeva Alstott, Ereziah Jones and Alexis Hiracheta were runners-up in the sprint medley.

Fort Dodge returns to action on Tuesday at Waverly.
