Boleyn finishes 2nd for Tritons

Kelly Boleyn finished off her two-day run at the Iowa Central Spring Invitational with a runner-up finish.

Bolelyn, a former Humboldt standout, fired a total of 161 to finish eight shots back of Mount Mercy’s Breanna Felderman. She tied Casey Noble of Mount Mercy for second place.

After opening the event with a 79, Boleyn fired an 82 on Saturday.

Mount Mercy was crowned the team champion with a 645, 52 shots ahead of St. Mary out of Nebraska. Des Moines Area was fourth, North Iowa Area fifth and the University of Jamestown sixth.

Boleyn’s 79 on Friday broke her personal best for a low 18-hole round.

“Kelly had another solid round Saturday,” Iowa Central head coach Kris Graewin said. “She had a great front nine and was able to keep the ball in play and made some great par putts. She had a long putt on No. 4 that was very impressive.

“Her short game has always been strong but this weekend she utilized that and put together her best 36-hole score in her career. She makes my job as a coach really easy with all the hard work she puts into her game.”

Next action for Bolelyn will be on Thursday in Mason City at the NIACC Spring Invitational. The women’s Region XI Tournament is set for April 24-26 in Ankeny at Otter Creek Golf Course.
