Home twinbills for Dodgers this week

The Fort Dodge basketball teams will open a two-game homestand on Tuesday as they host Urbandale in the Dodger gym.

The Fort Dodge boys (1-7 overall) are coming off a tough loss to ninth-ranked (Class 1A) Grand View Christian on Saturday. Urbandale (1-4) has lost three straight on the boys’ side.

Fort Dodge will be back in the Dodger gym on Friday versus Ankeny (4-3), which has won three straight.

This will be the second meeting between the Dodgers and Hawks. Ankeny earned an 80-48 win in their own gym earlier this season.

Bentor Neyall and Carson Johnson led the way with 12 points each. Braden Simonsen had 11 and JJ Kohl added 10.

For the Dodgers, Averey Martin (14) and Javion Jondle (13) reached double figures.

Ryan Crandall leads Ankeny in scoring at 10.4 per contest. Kohl (9.4) and Johnson (nine) are next in line.

Urbandale’s leading scorer is Dylan Sams (10.6) and Greysn Schmitz (8.8) are next in line.

Martin leads the Dodgers in scoring at 12.6 per contest. Next in line is Carson Peterson (8.4), Bradley Vodraska (7.3) and Jondle (6.3).

The FDSH girls (2-7) will face Urbandale (1-3) and finish the week with Ankeny (5-2) — both at home as well.

In the first meeting with the Hawks, the Dodgers fell 74-44. Abigail Johnson led Ankeny with 19 points. Jenna Pitz (14) and Ellie Maschoff (13) also reached double figures.

Tristin Doster led the Dodgers with 10 points.

Johnson leads the Hawks in scoring with a 15.9-point average.

For Urbandale, MyKenna Cole and Meredith Umland are averaging eight points each.

The Dodgers are led by Tory Bennett (10.3), Doster (6.6), Aleaha Pommer (5.9) and Cheyenne Miller-Hameed (5.1).
