Countdown to County Golf: Kinseth stretched titles across decade

Ryan Kinseth’s memorable run to the 2005 title at the Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota Webster County golf tournament, presented by The Messenger, cemented his status as one of the top golfers in the area.

However, it would be almost a full 10 years later before Kinseth would return swing his way back into the winner’s circle of the yearly event.

After rallying past fellow former Dodger and Wartburg University teammate Kevin Ault for his first title in ’05, Kinseth cruised to victory No. 2 in 2014.

Kinseth scored the men’s title that year by five shots over both Lucas Peed and Austin Morrow.

The year before, he came up just short of winning the crown, settling for second in 2013 just two shots back of eventual winner Phil Ruth.

His 2005 six-under-par total of 172 for 45 holes was the third-best effort in the event’s history at the time Kinseth fired it on the two courses.

Since graduating from Wartburg, Kinseth has continued to compete around the state and area in several of the biggest golf events.

The sign-up period continues for this year’s two-day event, which is Saturday and Sunday at the Fort Dodge Country Club and Lakeside golf courses.
