Humboldt beats Gaels, Webster City in triangular

HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt wrestling team put together a pair of dominant performances here Thursday night to defeat both St. Edmond and Webster City.

The Wildcats posted an 84-0 victory over the Gaels and topped the Lynx, 50-24. Webster City downed St. Edmond, 82-0.

Colby Clarken, Ty Gargano, Jordan Jensen, Joe Weydert, Fletcher Satern, Levi Naeve, Braxden Scott, Logan Nilles, Walt Delanoit, Colton Goodell, Josh Belden, Cole Nelson, Jase Goodell and Cresten Craven were all victorious for Humboldt over the Gaels.

Clarken, Jensen, Satern, Naeve, Nilles, Delanoit, Colton Goodell, Jase Goodell and Craven picked up wins as well against the Lynx.

Webster City’s Chase Rattenborg, CJ Hisler, Trey Shannon and Camron Phetxoumphone were winners against Humboldt. Phetxoumphone, Brayden Henely, Reese Sadler, Ryan Zutleau, Rattenborg, Austin Mason, Nick Gasca, Evan Estlund, Cole Bingham, Hisler, Truman Klein, Dylan Burnette, Shannon and Eric Lomeli had wins vs. St. Edmond.

Elly Berry for St. Edmond did earn a victory in junior varsity action at 126 pounds, scoring a fall over Tristan Filler in 3:13.

“Humboldt and Webster City are two very good teams,” SEHS head coach Eugene Carlson said. “It was good for Elly to get a match and a win ahead of the girls state tournament.”

Berry will be in action next Friday and Saturday in Waverly, while the Gaels head to Iowa Falls next weekend for the NCC meet.
