The Iowa Central men’s and women’s swim teams both got two victories in the Dodger Pool on Friday night.

The men defeated Iowa Lakes 160-24, and Barton 141-60.

The women topped Iowa Lakes 131-43, and Barton 128-61.

The men won every event except for the 50 freestyle, and six different individuals won two events.

Marcelo Busch was a double winner in the 200 freestyle (1:43.82) and 500 freestyle (4:39.66; a school record by four seconds).

Mariano Sosa won the 200 IM (2:00.35) and 100 backstroke (53.54).

Vini Molz topped the school record in the 1000 freestyle by two seconds in his victory.

Four different women won for the Tritons, while Eve Berg, Mary Marshall and Emilie Andrin were double winners. Berg took the 1000 freestyle (11:26.30) and 500 freestyle (5:30.17).

Marshall was the champion in the 50 freestyle (26.06) and 100 butterfly (1:04.14).

Andrin won the 200 IM (2:19.19) and the 100 breaststroke (1:08.58).

“This is the first year that all the swimmers are the kids I recruited,” said Iowa Central head coach Joe Plane. “The team really swam well, and they know what we expect of them.

“We are a family and they have come together and are working hard. We had a lot of best times. Mitchell Emery (Fort Dodge Senior High graduate) was one second faster in the 100 butterfly.”

The Iowa Central swim team is back in action on Oct. 20 against Midland in the Dodger Pool.
