SPIRIT LAKE — Defending Class 2A runner-up Spirit Lake had no answer for Algona’s Will Weichert. Weichert went over 200 yards as the Bulldogs (1-0 overall) earned a 33-20 victory on Friday. Weichert carried the ball 24 times for 224 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback Nathan Manske was 9-for-12 for 121 yards and two passing TDs, connecting with Evan Allie and Taevyn Zinnel for scores.
