RIDGE VIEW — Alexis Ross didn’t spend much time on the mat on Saturda as she pinned her way to a Ridge View Invitational championship.

The Dodgers placed seventh in their first tournament of the season.

Lewis Central (146) was the team champion. Humboldt (103) was fourth and the Dodgers scored 84 points. Area teams in attendance were South Central Calhoun (11th), Manson Northwest Webster (13th) and Pocahontas Area.

“I thought we did a good job and came out and competed hard,” said FDSH head coach Jon Koenig. “When we were wrestling girls with experience, we were making too many mental mistakes.

“We just have to be doing the simple things and get to that next level.”

Ross, competing in the 140-pound Gold bracket, had falls in 1:50, 1:05 and two minutes flat. She beat Humboldt’s Mia Harris in the championship match.

“Alexis did exactly what she wanted to,” Koenig said. “She got bonus points and obviously helped us get to where we were in the team race.”

Maddie Pulis (170) placed third in the Gold bracket. Three of her four wins were by fall.

“Maddie was defintely excited about the way she wrestled,” Koenig said. “Now we have a little break before we get back to the grind.”

St. Edmond student Andee Barwin was fourth at 120. Macy Brown (135) and Lucy Porter (145) both took fifth.

Kate Feltz took three matches by fall to secure the 140-pound Silver bracket.

“I was happy to see whate Kate did,” Koenig said. “She didn’t win a match at our scramble, but came out and won the silver bracket.

“Her confidence is through the roof.”

For Humboldt, Sophia Harris (110G) and Harris (140G) were both second. Placing third in the gold bracket were Baylie Beers (130) and Brooklyn Robinson (235).

Jypsie Dudney (110G) and Claire Weydert (135G) earned fourth-place spots.

For South Central Calhoun, Kourtney King (100) was fourth, while Iris Melody (105), Lacey Martin (115) and Delanie Westcott (130) were fifth in the gold matches.

Manson Northwest Webster’s Kyla Egli (120G) was third, while Maddy Stanek (235) was fourth. Addi Hudek (155G) placed fifth.

Kayle Rumbo (105G) was third for Pocahontas Area.
