Fisher scores five TDs

GOWRIE — Kyler Fisher had a field day for Southeast Valley, as they cruised to a 48-14 victory over Pocahontas Area on Friday night.

Fisher reached the endzone five times for the Jaguars (2-0 overall). The senior running back returned a kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown.

He also had four scores on the ground, from 21, 20, four and one yard out.

He finished with 153 yards on the ground.

Quarterback Hunter Kruse threw two touchdown passes and was 9-for-13 passing for 99 yards. He hooked up with Chase Swieter on a 51-yard score and Nyles Johnson from 21 out.

The Jaguars had 301 yards of total offense.

Garrigan stops MC Newman

ALGONA — The fourth-ranked Bishop Garrigan football team remained unbeaten with a 28-21 victory over Mason City Newman.

The Golden Bears (2-0 overall) rushed for 227 yards and four different players reached the end zone.

Tristan Furgeson returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown.

Brad Capesius scored from seven yards out. Eric Thul and Sam Vaske had three yard scores each.

Thul rushed for 70 yards on 12 carries. Vaske and Capesius had 55 and 52 respectively.

Furgeson had two interceptions. Alex Mammen had eight tackles. John Capesius had two sacks and five tackles. Aiden Koob had two sacks and Cade Winkel had five tackles.

Coppock scores 4 times for N-F

NEWELL — The third-ranked Newell-Fonda football team picked up a 37-26 victory over Coon Rapids-Bayard on Friday night.

The Mustangs (2-0 overall), who scored 53 points last week, now have 90 in two contests. Coon Rapids-Bayard (1-1) scored 89 in their opener and are over the 100-mark (115).

Junior Bryce Coppock scored four touchdowns on the night. He scored from 17, 10, 10 and two yards. He rushed for 184 yards. Coppock was also 3-for-6 passing for 62 yards.

Sophomore Tanner Gerke had an 11-yard touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball, R.J. Rojas had 10 tackles. Alex Spangler and Coppock had five stops, while Aden Mahler had four.

Elman earns first win at Humboldt

GARNER — Humboldt first-year head coach Derrick Elman earned his first win as a Wildcat on Friday night.

Humboldt (1-1 overall) picked up a 7-0 victory over Garner-Hayfield/Ventura (1-1).

Jamison Heinz had the lone score for the Wildcats, reaching paydirt from 56 yards out. Heinz finished with 120 yards on 12 carries.

He was 9-for-15 passing for 68 yards.

Garner-Hayfield/Ventura was in the Humboldt red zone four times, but the were turned away each time.

Matt Miller led the Wildcats with 11 tackles.

Webster City loses to Spencer, 28-14

WEBSTER CITY — The Webster City football team burst out to a two-touchdown lead, but Spencer scored 28 unanswered for a 28-14 victory on Friday night.

The Lynx (1-1 overall) only managed 64 yards on the ground, while Spencer rushed for 377 yards.

Dylan Steen connected from 41 yards out to Carson Struchen for the lone offensive touchdown.

Trey Mathis returned an interception 40 yards for a defensive score.

Trace Kepler led the Lynx with 26 yards rushing. Steen and Drake Doolittle had 21 each.

Steen finished the contest 11-for-19 passing for 124 yards. Struchen caught five balls for 78 yards.

Cougars can’t get past Panthers, 52-8

PANORAMA — The Manson Northwest Webster football team couldn’t stop Panorama on Friday night.

The Cougars (0-2 overall) lost a 52-8 contest to the Panthers (2-0).

Panorama has put up 93 points in their first two contests.

The Cougars’ lone score on the night came on an 82-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from sophomore Brayden Johl.
