David Paul Flaherty was born May 24, 1941 in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Palmer High School in 1959. After graduation, he was drafted into the US Army. Upon his discharge, he farmed in the Palmer area with his dad and brothers. He later moved to Marathon and finally settled on the farm south of Rockwell City in 1974 where he continued to farm up until last year! David enjoyed hunting in his earlier years, but his greatest passion was farming. He took great pride in his work and always kept his John Deere machinery in pristine condition. He loved attending the Iowa State Fair and always could be caught watching a great Western, Gunsmoke and Riflemen were two of his favorites along with an occasional sporting event. David loved spending time at Travis’ farm helping raise piglets and calves. He would never pass up a cold Pepsi or a day spent in the tractor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorials may be left to family discretion.
