Glenna Leuenberger

In Loving Memory of Glenna Leuenberger

June 23, 1930 — September 13, 2025

Glenna Mae (Peters) Leuenberger was born June 23, 1930, to Glenn and Ethel (Richards) Peters in New Hampton, Iowa. She was raised in New Hampton and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1948. She received her teaching certificate from Luther College and taught in Alta Vista and LaPort City, Iowa. Later, her love of education continued with her private preschool — one of her greatest joys.

Glenna met her future husband Lou Leuenberger in New Hampton. They married on July 30, 1955. They lived in Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Decorah, and Charles City before settling in Fort Dodge, Iowa, for over 50 years. They were married 69 years and blessed with three daughters.

As the girls grew up, Glenna's volunteering grew with them. Room mother, PTA President, Brownies and Girl Scout leader, physical education teacher, and substitute teacher were some of the ways she contributed her time and energy.

Glenna loved social activity and spent time with her Bible study group, Monican Mothers, PEO chapter, card clubs, and birthday groups. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins and their families, as well as many friends in Iowa and Arizona.

Survivors include her daughters Sue (Robert) Kalseim of East Battle Lake, MN, Jill (Alan) Gargano of Phoenix, AZ, Sara (Dean) Porter of West Chester, OH; grandsons Ben (Melissa) Gargano of Goodyear, AZ, and Jon (Mary) Gargano of Omaha, NE; four great-grandchildren — Wyatt, Wesley, Ellie, and Abby Gargano; sisters Georgena Miller of Charles City, IA, and Michaele Miller of Falls City, NE; and many dearly loved cousins, nieces and nephews who were special in her life.

Glenna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lou, on July 20, 2024.

A Service and Celebration of Life will begin at noon Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Celebration Center, Friendship Haven — 420 Kenyon Road — Fort Dodge, Iowa. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family.
