Thomas Jessen
Dr. Thomas E. Jessen, 83, long-time Newton physician, passed away September 22nd following a fall. Born and raised in Fort Dodge, he was a 1959 Fort Dodge High School graduate and earned B.S. and M.D. degrees from the University of Iowa. He practiced in Coralville, Iowa, for three and a half years before moving to Newton, where he continued his practice for 36 years until his retirement in 2010.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn (Pulis) Jessen, Fort Dodge High School class of 1960; his two children and five grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29th, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. A memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 30th, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, MercyOne Newton, Newton YMCA, HA Lynn Stadium, or the family’s choice.
