Jolene Douglas

Jolene was a woman of many talents, who touched the lives of her friends and family. A proud Iowan, she taught home economics at various schools, including Nebraska City, Pocahontas, Emmetsburg, Barnum, and Manson. She used her skills in quilting groups in Florida and Iowa.

Jolene had a great interest in fishing, which she often did with her husband, Dareld “Mick” Douglas. Jolene’s fishing skills were second to none, which often left Mick mystified and amused. In addition to fishing, Jolene enjoyed traveling and made numerous trips with her friends or to visit family. She also did many mission trips.

Jolene enjoyed playing games with her friends, and her favorite was Rummikub. She usually took great pleasure in winning. Jolene had a sweet tooth and was known for her desserts. 

Jolene was an active supporter of the Ft. Dodge PICA (Pride in our Community Group) and was involved in various local charities, including Mission Central and Beacon of Hope, both of which she held dear. Her dedication and commitment towards the mission of these charities had a profound impact on the people she helped.

Jolene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and April Douglas of Winter Park, Florida, and her grandchildren, Jessica Terrel, Timothy Terrell, Audrey Douglas, and Ada Douglas. She is also survived by her brother, Norman (Maggie) Eggen of Lafayette, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Erma Eggen, and her husband, Dareld “Mick” Douglas.

A visitation will be held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 12:00 pm, followed by her funeral at 1:00 pm. The interment will take place immediately following the funeral at Oakland Cemetery. A reception to follow afterward at a location to be determined.
