JAMES D. SHORT

James D. Short, 63, of Fort Dodge, died May 31, 2023, at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames, following a 6 ¢ year battle with cancer.

James Dixon Short, son of Duane and Eunice (Drown) Short, was born November 27, 1959, in Fort Dodge. He attended Fort Dodge Schools. James married Sheila Betterton and the couple later divorced. He was married and divorced from Diane Meek. James was employed as a trucker for Keim TS.

James loved music and his guitar, which he learned to play from his father. He enjoyed westerns and was a history buff. He was a lifetime member of the Nazarene Church and was a man of strong faith. James was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his sons, James (Amy) Short, Jon (Kala) Meek and Robert Short; six of his own grandchildren, Dameon, Carter, Noah, Tribute, Taylin and Erin and lots of “adopted” grandchildren; his brothers, Mike (Cindy) Short and Dave (LaVonne) Short. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents George and Viola Drown and Clarence Drown, his sister Valerie and son Jeremy.
