Dale Lee Seehusen was born October 31, 1955 to Louis and Ruby (Gehrt) Seehusen and, along with two brothers and a sister, grew up on the family farm near Pomeroy. He graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1973 and from Iowa State University with a degree in Animal Science in 1977. Much of Dale’s growing up years were spent taking care of the farm and he continued to do that after coming home from college. He especially enjoyed farrowing hogs and kept up with that until 2002. Dale also was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Pomeroy, serving on various committees as well as church treasurer.

Dale married Beth De Bruin in 1979. Together they raised Sara, Mike, and Anndee on the family farm and were very active in their farm, school, and church community. Beth passed away in 2008 after a long battle with cancer. Dale was remarried in 2011 to Marjean Lantz-Ramthun. They lived at Twin Lakes and enjoyed hosting their children and grandchildren.

From the tractor, armchair, or bleachers, Dale was a very enthusiastic Iowa State fan. He also enjoyed fishing in Canada and serving on the NEW Co-op Board of Directors for 17 years where he developed many great friendships. He would also teach Financial Peace University classes at the church and take occasional mission trips to Honduras. Once the grandchildren came around, he spent his free time filling them with candy, doughnuts, and pizza, pushing swings, singing silly songs, or reading countless books.

Dale was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in April of 2021 but he remained very active on the farm and with the grandchildren, savoring the time. As the disease caused him to slow down, he particularly enjoyed watching old movies with his wife, a favorite being “Stars in My Crown” which he thinks everyone should see. Sickness helped Dale see eternity close at hand, and he thought a lot about living a life that “stored up treasure in heaven” or added “stars in my crown.” Dale was blessed in his last weeks by the many visits from friends and family and the great care of UnityPoint Hospice as well as Pocahontas Hospital staff.

He is survived by his children, Sara & Chad White (Oliver, Lydia, Maggie, & Henry) of Lawton; Mike & Holly Seehusen (Parker, Nora, Owen, & Elyse) of Pomeroy; Anndee & Billy Simmons of Normal, IL; his wife Marjean and her children, Adam & Sarah Ramthun (Landon & Mabel) of Manson; Morgan & Matt Johnson (Caleb, Aubrey, & Sadie) of Northwood; and his brothers, David & Karen and Duane & Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Vicki; wife, Beth; and grandson, Nolan Ramthun.
