JAMES WORLEY

James Thaddeus Worley, 76

Born Fort Dodge, IA, May 2, 1946. Died January 2, 2022, Woodridge, IL. Graduated from St. Edmond High School and Creighton University. Served in the US Army for 2 years.

These are the facts. But we are all much more than our milestones. We would like you to know the essence of our brother.

First, Jim had an insatiable curiosity, whether he was marveling at the natural world, human history, or the dramatic spectacle of human behavior. He was an absolute repository of facts. He read everything. He was the first person we knew who would pick a letter in the Encyclopedia Britannica and consume every topic. Jeopardy contestant? A probable wish. Trivial Pursuits partner? You bet. Family road trips took twice as long with all the historical marker stops. His fascination with history and culture led to work in curating/selling antiques, unique tools, ephemera, rare books, and African art.

It is our greatest wish that you remember Jim as a kind, gentle man who respected others. The world would be a better place if we all had a little “Jim” in us. We will miss him. Survivors include siblings Susan Leinwohl, Deborah Worley, and John Worley, and niece, Stephanie Leinwohl.

A memorial service will be scheduled for late spring or early summer.

Contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to either The Art Institute of Chicago, https://sales. artic.edu/donate or The Field Museum, https://app.mobilecause.com/form/aZnf4w?vid=n6s1o.
