DEAN SCHARF

DUNCOMBE — Dean Scharf, 70, of Duncombe passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Ser­vices will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2020. Burial will take place at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh, IA.

Dean Scharf, the son of Arthur W. and Jennett (Pooler) Scharf, was born on August 10, 1949 in Fort Dodge, IA. He graduated high school in 1968. Dean then completed his welding certification at Iowa Central Community College. Dean Scharf was united in marriage to Alice (Smith) on May 7, 1970 in Fort Dodge, IA. He worked at JC Penney and Standard Engineering but spent most of his life farming with his wife Alice. They spent 49 years together loving and living life to the fullest. Dean loved his time in the shop and visited with everyone who came through. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, welding, and driving horses. Dean was passionate about his family and friends and always had time to visit with them, especially his little angels.

Dean is survived by his wife, Alice; sons, Daniel (Tracy) Scharf, Shadd (Sara) Scharf, and Aaron “Bones” Morriss; daughter, Dena (Keith) Sytsma; grandchildren, Baylee, Daryan, Charly, Jaedyn, Dillon, Samuel, and Emma; and his siblings, Bruce (Marcia) Scharf and Colleen (Roger) Smith.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur (Virginia) and Jennett (Karl); and his siblings, Arthur, Edwin, and Phyllis.

Memorials in memory of Dean may be directed to the discretion of the family.
