Betty Syferd Ewing, 93, of Fort Dodge, died August 23, 2019 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Private graveside services will be held at the Westlawn Cemetery, Lehigh. Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services is entrusted with the arrangements.

Betty Jean Canfield was born January 21, 1926 to Dewey and Fern (Sayers) Canfield. She was raised on a farm in southern Iowa. She worked at Central Lab, retiring in 1988.

Survivors include her children Linda (Larry) Shadboldt of Escalon, CA; Randy Syferd of Fort Dodge; her daughter-in-law Beverly Syferd of Kimberling City, MO; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Wessie Woodruff and Janet Everman; her husband Nick Ewing and son Nels Syferd.
