TERRY LYNN DILLON

Terry Lynn Dillon passed away December 5th surrounded by his family. Terry was 68 years old and lived a colorful life full of adventure and achievements. Terry was born on January 15th, 1950 to his parents Kenneth and Lois (Adams) Dillon, in Algona, Iowa. Terry and his siblings lived in a variety of places when he was growing up. While attending high school in Gowrie, Terry met a group of talented musicians in need of a keyboard player for their band, West Minist’r. Terry, eager to join the group, taught himself how to play the keyboard and soon became the next member of the well-known hometown band of the 60’s. Terry went on to graduate from Prairie Valley High School in 1969 and married his high school classmate, LeAnn Quade, in 1970. Terry joined the Navy where he was a radioman with top secret clearance to the admiral on U.S.S. Mount Whitney. Terry and LeAnn moved several places throughout the country while he was active in the Navy and welcomed two sons Chris and Eric. Terry was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1974 and the couple moved to Fort Dodge where Terry was employed at Lynch Construction, Brozo Trucking and Pingel Tire.

Terry and LeAnn divorced in 1980. Terry later married Bonnie Pigman in 1981 and welcome twins, Matthew and Jamie. The couple would vacation in Alexandria in the summers and eventually grew to love the area so much, they moved their family there. Terry drove truck for WASP, worked for Tire Associates and later worked at Alexandria Extrusion, where he retired from in May of 2018.

After his retirement, Terry could be found in his “office” of his garage, listening to old records, smoking cigarettes, drinking beer, calling friends and family and playing solitaire on his computer. Terry was known for his humor and wit and for never missing birthdays or anniversaries.

Terry is now reunited with his parents, his sisters, Virginia and Patty Dillon and his beloved granddaughter, Kassie Dillon.

Those left to treasure memories of him are his wife, Bonnie of Garfield, MN, his sons Chris Dillon of Alexandria, MN, Eric (Cassie) Dillon of Barnum, IA, Matthew (LaTonya) Dillon of Menagha, MN, his daughters Jamie (Aric) Olsen of Anoka, MN and Tracy Long of Alexandria, MN, his grandchildren Haley (Zack) Flanagan, Alexia (Tanner) Weiss, Cody (Abby) Stromberg, Ashton, Alec, Owen, Tenor, Harmony, Melody, Kaylee and Kaden Dillon, Skylar and Sunny Olsen, 4 great-grandchildren, sisters Barb (Dan) McMahon of Webster City and Sue (Tim) Kelly of Fort Dodge, step-mother, Lola Dillon of Fort Dodge, IA and step-brother Stephen Sterba of Columbia, MO. Terry’s many accomplishments of his life included playing backup music for Dolly Parton and Hank Williams Jr., becoming a member of the Iowa Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame, serving his country and living life to the fullest. His proudest accomplishment and joy of his life was his family.
