MARLENE “MAY” LAHIFF

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Otho Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

May is survived by her children, Patricia Freund, Michael (Mary) Lahiff and Jean (Dan) Even. Marlene had three grandchildren, Christine Degner, Sarah Lahiff and Nicole Lahiff. She also has four great-grandchildren, sister, Dorothy McBride and sister-in-law, Pat Krantz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Esther (Beadle) Krantz; siblings, Marian Sutter, Eugene Krantz, twin sister, Arlene (Jo) Bruss and Paul Krantz.

Marlene May Krantz was born December 9, 1936 in the family home near Otho. She attended school in Otho and graduated from Otho High School. Marlene married Emmett J. Lahiff on June 6, 1956 and the couple made Clare their home. Marlene moved to Otho in the 1990s to be closer to family. Marlene always looked forward to visitors. She had many friends who gathered at her home over the years, often to play cards. No matter who came to her door they were welcomed in. She has always loved country music and thoroughly enjoyed the Saturday night music sessions.

Most knew Marlene as May and she had many extended family members who knew her and called her by GG. May’s wish for those attending her celebration of life to dress casually.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
