SALT youth group will meet on Wednesday

The First United Methodist Church youth group SALT for middle-school youths will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the church, 127 N. 10th St. Children will be picked up at the middle school after classes and parents must pick them up by 5 p.m. A snack is served along with a lesson and lots of games and fun for youths.

Annual Scandinavian tea is Wednesday in Emmetsburg

EMMETSBURG — The Bethany Lutheran Church will hold its annual Scandinavian tea from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Tea and a large variety of Scandinavian breads and cookies will be served by costumed waitresses. Cost is $7 for adults, $2 for children and preschoolers are free.

‘The Sounds of Christmas’ at Humboldt Congregational United Church of Christ

HUMBOLDT — The Congregational United Church of Christ will present “The Sounds of Christmas” at 2 p.m., Dec. 3, at the church in Humboldt. The concert will feature organ solos and piano/organ duets as well as vocal soloist Pam Stalpes and the Senior Choir under the direction of Sharon Fontana. Organists participating will be Nancy Parsons, Paula Arends and Meg Thompson. Coffee and cookies will be served following the concert. A freewill offering will be taken. The proceeds will be used for upkeep and repair of the Reuter pipe organ.

Gowrie UMC to hold Christmas coffee and bazaar

GOWRIE — The Gowrie United Methodist Women will host its annual Christmas coffee and bazaar from 8 to 11 a.m., Dec. 2, at the United Methodist Church in Gowrie. Items available for purchase include home-baked items, candy, cookie walk, handmade rag rugs and tablecloths, homemade noodle and various crafts.

Hostage shares story of captivity at Lifetree Cafe

How to cope with loneliness and isolation will be explored at noon and 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Lifetree Cafe. King Ringers Christmas concert is Sunday

The King Ringers Handbell Ensemble will present their Christmas concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1436 21st Ave. N. They will perform both sacred and secular sounds of the season. Along with the handbells, you will hear the sounds of the piano, synthesizer, guitar, and various percussion instruments.
