Iowa man pleads guilty to meth and gun charges in federal court

A man who conspired to distribute methamphetamine and illegally possessed firearms in the Fort Dodge area pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Sioux City. Jordan Mefferd, 47, of Pocahontas, was convicted of one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, four counts of distributing methamphetamine, one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Webster County supervisors receive bids for animal control

The Webster County Supervisors received and placed on file two bids for animal control services in the county. On Tuesday, the supervisors received a bid from Total Animal Control Company for a retainer of $19,200 with an estimated monthly fee of $1,600. According to Webster County Auditor Shaunna Abrams, the four-page bid was submitted by Blaine Hepp. A second bid was received from ASAP Safety LLC for a $2,000 per month retainer, as well as a $35 hourly charge with a four-hour minimum for call outs. Lehigh man sentenced for 2025 shooting

DAYTON — A Lehigh man has pleaded guilty to intimidation with a dangerous weapon with intent, a class C felony, after he shot at a Dayton home last year. Jose L. Perez, 33, entered the guilty plea in Webster County District Court earlier this week. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison without the possibility of parole. According to court documents, on Dec. 28, 2025, Perez arrived at 101 Third Street S.W. in Dayton where he exited his vehicle and discharged a 9mm pistol into the residence. He then fled the scene.
