Two members of Public Safety Authority named

Two appointments to the new Webster County Public Safety Authority were approved by the Fort Dodge City Council Monday. The council appointed Ryan Gruenberg as the city’s representative. He is a former Fort Dodge Police Department captain who is the vice president of operations at Iowa Central Community College. The council also approved Vickie Reeck as the joint city-county representative on the authority’s board. Water, pheasants topics at Coffee and Conservation

Water quality was the focus of a Coffee and Conservation session Saturday at the Matt Cosgrove River’s Edge Discovery Center. The program featured information on Webster County Conservation’s volunteer water testing program, river cleanup efforts and future initiatives to ensure water quality for recreation and agriculture. Jerry Beck, of Pheasants Forever, was present and reported that the area should be the site of good pheasant hunting this fall. The Discovery Center at 20 N. Two more officers added to FDPD

Two new Fort Dodge police officers were introduced to the City Council Monday. Blake Smith grew up in Coalville and graduated from Southeast Webster High School. He has worked various jobs, and has been a member of the Webster County Sheriff’s Office Reserve for about two and a half years. Lestat Lesher is a native of Florida who moved to Iowa and graduated from Manson Northwest Webster High School. Intersection, Public Safety Authority top council agenda

The Fort Dodge City Council is expected to address two major issues when it meets tonight: an intersection job and the entity that may build a new Law Enforcement Center. The council will meet at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S. The intersection to be addressed is Second Avenue North and North 15th Street. Tonight the council will consider awarding a contract for the complete reconstruction of the intersection. Castor Construction, of Fort Dodge, submitted the apparent low bid of about $3 million.
