Man hurt in accident listed as stable

The Iowa State Patrol has identified the man hurt in an accident Tuesday evening when his vehicle hit a utility pole along North 32d Street.

Marvin Leffingwell, 55, of Fort Dodge, was thrown from the pickup truck he was driving, according to an ISP accident report.

Leffingwell, who was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report, was taken to Trinity Regional Medical Center with head injuries.

He was listed in stable condition Wednesday.

Leffingwell was headed north at a high rate of speed on North 32nd Street near Diversified Storage when he apparently lost control of his 1999 Ford pickup shortly before 8 p.m., the ISP reported. The pickup went into the west ditch and sheared off a high voltage utility pole before rolling and coming to rest on its passenger side.

The accident remains under investigation.

Poky man arrested on drug warrant

EMMETSBURG – A Pocahontas man has been arrested on a Palo Alto County warrant for delivery of a controlled substance.

Aaron Goeders, 36, of Pocahontas, was arrested Sunday at his home.

Goeders had been the subject of an eight-month drug investigation, according to a statement from the Palo Alto County sheriff’s office. He has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance.

He is being held in the Palo Alto County Jail on $10,000 bond.

Additionally, Amber D. Baas, 30, Pocahontas, is facing the same charge as Goeders. She was released after making her initial appearance in court.

The sheriff’s office said more arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
