American Legion breakfast is Nov. 5 in Livermore

LIVERMORE— Sons of the American Legion Omelet Breakfast will be 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday in the Livermore American Legion basement. The breakfast will include omelets, homemade cinnamon rolls, milk, juice and coffee. Dine-in or to-go orders will be accepted. The cost is $10 per person.

KYL offers Spice of the Month Club

WEBSTER CITY — Kendall Young Library invites you to add some spice to your life with the KYL Spice of the Month Club. We will be featuring sage starting on Friday. Samples will be available throughout the month while supplies last. This is a fun way to explore different cultures and flavors. Each month there will be a featured herb or spice. A limited number of kits will be available each month with a small sample, information about the spice, and a couple recipes to try.

FDFD to hold open house

The renovations at the Fort Dodge firehouse will be displayed Sunday during an open house. The open house will begin at 10 a.m. in the firehouse, 1515 Central Ave.

Salvation Army announces dates for Christmas assistance signup

The Salvation Army of Fort Dodge will hold Christmas assistance signups next week. Anyone in need is welcome to stop by the office at 126 N. Seventh St. Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Those applying for assistance (toys, clothing, and food) will need to bring with them a photo ID, proof of residency within Webster County (i.e., a piece of current mail), and Social Security cards for everyone in the household who’d be receiving assistance. Supervisors cancel TextMyGov contract

The Webster County Board of Supervisors voted to cancel the county’s contract with TextMyGov, a service that uses smart texting technology to help connect residents with their local governments. The decision to cancel the contract was due to the service not being used much by residents and the board felt it wasn’t a good use of county funds to continue, Chairwoman Niki Conrad said. School board OKs early retirement offering

The new early retirement incentive offering for eligible Fort Dodge Community School staff members was approved Monday night at the School Board meeting. There are 71 staff members eligible to apply for early retirement this year, including 33 certified staff. Eligible staff will have until Dec. 8 to apply for early retirement.
