Almost Home pizza fundraiser underway

Amigo’s, 280 N. First St., is now conducting a pizza fundraiser for the Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa. For every pizza it sells through Sunday, the restaurant will donate $5 to Almost Home. The fundraiser is Amigo’s way of celebrating National Pizza Day and Puppy Bowl XX.

Almost Home to offer free dog clinic

A free community veterinary clinic for dogs will be held from 9 a.m. to noon March 2 at the Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa, 725 S. 32nd St. The clinic will offer an overall health evaluation, vaccines, comprehensive testing and microchipping. Appointments are required. To schedule an appointment, call 515-955-8343. The clinic is a partnership between Almost Home, the Association of Shelter Veterinarians, The Bissel Pet Foundation and Amigo’s in Fort Dodge.

Area students named to Kirkwood Dean’s List

Man arrested on sexual assault charge

DAKOTA CITY — A man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a child last year, according to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department. Garrett Oberhelman, 36, of Dakota City, was charged with second degree sexual assault, the department reported. He turned himself in Wednesday at the Humboldt County Jail. He was released after posting a $25,000 cash bond. The Sheriff’s Department reported that it received a complaint on Dec. 18, 2023, stating that a child under the age of 12 had been sexually assaulted at a residence in Dakota City. Two make Minnesota State Dean’s List

Two area students have been named to the Dean’s List at Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minnesota, for the fall 2023 semester. They are Greta Lampe, of Algona (High Honor List), and Madyson Hennigar of Clarion (Honor List)

Duncombe school starts fundraiser

The Duncombe Elementary Student Lighthouse team is hosting a Valentine’s Day Candy Gram Fundraiser to help raise money for the purchase of a washer and dryer for the building. Students can purchase candy grams for other students, or parents and adults can order them for students. Each candy gram will include a piece of candy and is just $2. Candy grams can be filled out and purchased at the school from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. until Feb. 13. There is a booth run by the Lighthouse team located inside the main entrance at Duncombe Elementary School, 1620 Sixth Ave. N.
