Drake University releases honors lists

The following area students have been named to the Dean’s List or President’s List at Drake University in Des Moines for the fall semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must have earned a grade point average of 3.5. To be eligible for the President’s List, a student must have earned a perfect grade point average of 4.0. Housing Agency releases annual plan

The Fort Dodge Housing Agency has developed its annual plan for fiscal year 2024. The plan is available for review at the agency’s office at 700 S. 17th St. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays. A public hearing will be held on the plan at noon March 27 in the housing agency’s office.

Part of Central Avenue to be closed

The 1300 block of Central Avenue will be closed from Tuesday through Thursday, the Fort Dodge Public Works Department reported. Water service along Central Avenue between 12th and 15th streets will be shut off at about 6 a.m. Wednesday. The street closure and water shutoff will be necessary because city crews will be installing an additional water main valve.

Accountants release report on Moorland

MOORLAND — T.P. Anderson & Co., of Humboldt, has released a report on certain financial testing conducted for the city of Moorland. The accounting firm reported that certain tests were performed on the city’s financial information for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2023. An audit was not performed, but testing covered areas such as bank reconciliation, debt compliance, and disbursement and receipt testing, among other things. The tests and findings can be found on the Auditor of State’s website.

Vincent Fire and Rescue supper Feb. 24

VINCENT — Vincent Fire and Rescue is holding a drive thru supper from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Vincent Fire Department. Chicken noodles over mashed potatoes, green beans, roll and drink will be served. Tickets are $12 per person with children ages 6 and under free.

Winter trivia night Feb. 29

The Friends of Webster County Conservation present Winter Trivia Night 2024, “It’s for the Birds,” on Feb. 29 at River Hops Brewery, 1014 Central Ave. Happy hour starts at 5:30 p.m. with trivia beginning at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds will fund a Motus Bird Tracking Tower at the River’s Edge Discovery Center. There will be six rounds of trivia with prizes for each, plus a grand prize for the top team. Snacks will be served. There will be a short presentation at intermission about the Motus Tracking system and how it fits the avian education plan in Webster County. This is a free event, ...
