Twin Lakes Triathlon is Saturday
MANSON — The 19th annual Twin Lakes Sprint Triathlon and third annual Super Sprint Triathlon will take place on Saturday. Both events start at 7:30 a.m. at the Twin Lakes Bible Camp, 7718 Twin Lakes Road, Manson. The sprint triathlon is a 500-meter swim, followed by a double loop 12-mile bike ride on blacktop roads around North Twin Lake. Participants finish with the 3.1 mile run on the trail, ending at the Bible Camp.
The Super Sprint Triathlon is for those who would like a shorter, faster race. This race starts at the same time as the Sprint, but the athletes will swim a 300-meter swim, then bike one lap (six miles) around the lake and finish with a shortened 1.75 mile run to the Bible Camp.
Individuals or teams of two to three people can enter the triathlon. Information and registration are at https://www.twinlakesbiblecamp.org/camps-and-events/adult-triathlon. Online registration closes at 8 p.m. Thursday. You can register at the Bible Camp on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. for an additional fee. There is no registration on race day.
The top three athletes in each age group and gender will receive a medal plus the top three overall men, women and team will receive a special award.
The event is timed by True Time Racing and is put on by Twin Lakes Bible Camp with support by the Twin Lakes community. Over the years, there have been athletes from different countries, eight states, and more than 40 different towns in Iowa. Eighty volunteers help keep participants safe during the events. All proceeds support the ongoing work of Twin Lakes Bible Camp.
