Boat renewals due April 30

Boat registration renewals are due next week. Boat owners must have their renewal fees paid to the Webster County Recorder’s Office by April 30.

These renewals are for a three-year period, expiring April 30, 2025. A penalty of $5 will be added to registrations beginning July 1. Boat owners should not operate boats with an expired registration and may receive a citation from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Registration fees vary depending on type and size of vessels:

• Any length, without motor or sail $16.90

• Motor/sail less than 16 feet $27.40

• Motor/sale 16 feet but less than 26 feet $40.90

• Motor/sail 26 feet but less than 40 feet $79.90

• Motor/sail 40 feet and over $154.90

• Personal watercrafts $49.90

• Documented vessel $29.90

Renewals can be done in person at the Webster County Recorder’s Office on the second floor of the Webster County Courthouse, 701 Central Ave. The office also processes renewals over the phone with a credit card — 3 percent surcharge and $1 postage added — at 515-576-2401.

Registration renewals can also be mailed to the Webster County Recorder’s Office, 701 Central Ave., with an additional $1 per item for postage. Please include the hull identification number and/or Iowa number of the vessels being renewed, as well as a telephone number.

Mailed renewal reminders will not be sent.
