Area schools safe after TikTok scare

A viral TikTok post that warned of nationwide school violence on Friday came to pass without incident in all area schools.

School districts became aware of the post prior to Friday and were in contact with local law enforcement to ensure safety. The threat was later deemed not credible.

Manson Northwest Webster Community School District was one area school district that took action.

In a letter to parents, Superintendent Justin Daggett said, “If you or your child become aware of any potential threat posted to social media or anywhere else, please notify a school staff member or trusted adult right away.”

Daggett added, “As always, thank you for your partnership as we work to ensure a safe, secure and positive learning environment for our students.”
