‘A Time for Prayer’ set for Nov. 3

Members of the Fort Dodge community will gather together for a “Time of Prayer” on Nov. 3. The get-together will be held at Second Baptist Church, 1827 Fourth Ave. S.

Sherry Washington, of Fort Dodge, organized the event with the idea of helping those impacted by recent tragedies.

“For the families, lost lives and all the hurt that has plagued our community, prayer must be the beginning and the end,” Washington said. “It’s all we have when looking for answers and peace. Lean not unto thine own understanding. If you’ve never prayed before, what is a better time than now?”

Speakers include: the Rev. Robert Johnson, of Corinthian Baptist Church in Des Moines; Charles Clayton, executive director of Athletics for Education and Success; state Rep. Ann Meyer; Bill Douglas, a Fort Dodge mentor; Dr. Jesse Ulrich, Fort Dodge Community School District superintendent; Barbara Crooks, of Divas N Action; and Mike Devine, of KVFD radio.
