Smart Driver Program set for Aug. 7
A program designed to improve the driving knowledge and skills of people 50 and older will be offered in Fort Dodge from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 7 at Citizens Central, 617 Central Ave.
Developed by AARP, the Smart Driver Program is geared to the specific needs of older motorists. The course objectives are: learning research-based safety strategies that can reduce the likelihood of having a crash; understanding the links among the driver, vehicle and road environment and how this awareness encourages safer behavior; learn how aging, medications, alcohol and other health related issues affect driving ability and ways to adjust to allow for these changes; increase confidence; know how to drive safely when sharing the road with others; learn the newest safety and advanced features in vehicles; learn when driving may no longer be safe; and explore other ways to travel.
For reservations, call 573-3429. The fee is $15 for AARP members or $20 for nonmembers and is due on Aug. 7. Proof of membership is required.
