Rhoads teams with Alzheimer’s group

Coach Paul Rhoads and the Alzheimer’s Association have scheduled their 5th annual A Ride to Remember motorcycle event for 1 p.m. June 22 at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames. This event raises funds to support the local programs, services and research efforts provided by the Alzheimer’s Association.

Prior to the event in Ames, Fort Dodge riders are welcome to congregate a pre-ride gathering at Fort Dodge Ford and ride as a group to Ames.

With the event in its fifth year, the goal is to reach 1,000 bikers and raise more than $100,000 to support the mission.

“We are amazed at the support this entire state has given to this event and Coach Rhoads. Last year, we had 500 riders representing six states and 96 cities here in Iowa. The stories you hear are heart wrenching, but those are what motivate us and Coach to keep fighting this disease,” said Kay Rader, development director for the Alzheimer’s Association.

A $35 per person registration fee includes the ride, an event T-shirt, meet and greet with Rhoads, and a barbecue tailgate. Participants are encouraged to pre-register. To register or view a list of gathering sites visit www.alz.org/greateriowa or call 440.2722.
