DNR seeks Brushy cabin rental input

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources wants input on proposed cabin fees for the two new one-bedroom cabins that will be built at Brushy Creek State Recreation Area in 2014.

The cabins will be designated as non-equestrian cabins and will be located near the non-equestrian beach campground. The modern family cabins will have full kitchens, kitchen table with four chairs, living area with a futon and sitting chairs, a bedroom with a queen-size bed, a bathroom, a covered outdoor seating area, and fire ring. The design is similar to cabins at Nine Eagles and Union Grove state parks. To see photos of the cabin at Union Grove, go online to iowastateparks.reserveamerica.com.

The cabins will be available year round. Their estimated completion date is July 2014.

The DNR believes cabin fees for the Brushy Creek cabins to be identical to the cabin rental fees for Nine Eagles and Union Grove state parks, which are $75 per night and $450 per week.
