No one was hurt in shooting

DAYTON — The second of two men wanted in connection with a December incident in which a Dayton home was sprayed with gunfire has been arrested.

Jose L. Perez, 33, of Lehigh, was arrested by Webster County sheriff’s deputies and charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent and reckless use of a firearm, according to court records.

Zachary S. Hammond, 40, of Lehigh, was arrested Jan. 14 and was charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon and going armed with intent.

The shooting occurred between 7:40 p.m. and 8:06 p.m. Dec. 28, 2025, in the 100 block of Fourth Street Southwest.

According to the criminal complaints filed against both men, Hammond drove a 2003 Kia Sedona van to the 100 block of Fourth Street Southwest. There, Perez got out of the van and fired multiple rounds from a 9 mm pistol at an occupied house. No one was injured.

Deputies found the van and the gun early last month.

Perez made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Thursday morning. Magistrate Brandy Lundy set a preliminary hearing for Feb. 13. She also issued an order prohibiting Perez from having any contact with the residents of the house he shot at.

Lundy set bond for Perez at $17,000 cash only.

Starting at $4.94/week.
