Supervisors approve new deputy hire
Advisory Council roles approved
The Webster County Board of Supervisors approved the hiring of a new deputy for the Sheriff’s Office Tuesday.
Tim Hopwood, a Fort Dodge police officer, will join the Webster County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 2. He will be paid $36.51 per hour, which is in agreement with Teamsters Local No. 238.
“He’s a member of our tactical unit and has more than five years of experience with the Police Department,” said Webster County Sheriff Luke Fleener. “We’ve been extremely lucky at the Sheriff’s Office that when we have openings we’ve had a lot of good people apply and this was no different. He’ll be a great addition to our team.”
The supervisors approved Chairman Austin Hayek to sign a letter of support for a grant for water management planning for the Ioway Creek Watershed Management Authority.
The supervisors also approved a budget amendment for fiscal year 2025-2026 which included $4,600 to the Sheriff’s Office, $67,000 to Public Health, and $63,076.80 to the non-departmental fund.
A third quarter transfer of funds from the general supplemental fund to telecommunications for $210,450 was also approved.
The supervisors also approved three new members to fill vacancies on the EMS Advisory Council. Councilwoman Megan Secor was appointed by the City of Fort Dodge to fill the seat vacated by Councilman Cameron Nelson. Chief Todd Bingham will represent the Duncombe Fire Department, and Clare Mayor Barb Passow will continue her three year term.
