Busy week at home for Tritons

The Iowa Central basketball teams return home this Wednesday and Saturday for ICCAC doubleheader action.

Up first is a twinbill with North Iowa Area before Des Moines Area comes to Hodges Fieldhouse over the weekend.

Wednesday’s games begin at 5:30 p.m. with Saturday’s tipping at 1 p.m. The women’s game will hit the court first followed by the men both nights.

The fifth-ranked Triton men (15-2 overall, 7-1 in league) had their four-game win streak come to an end this past Saturday at No. 3 Johnson County, 91-89. Head coach Mason Denholm’s team is averaging almost 97 points per game and has gone 6-1 at home this season.

Jordan Cain leads seven players in double figures at just under 20 points per game. Aleix Sempere is at 15 with over 11 rebounds. CJ Mitchell, Tashun Pender, Jalen Wynter, Manny Lueth and Dorian Pruitt are all between 10.7 and 14.5 points a game.

NIACC (10-7, 3-5) is coming off back-to-back losses to second-ranked DMACC and Southwestern. Jacob Martin and TJ Cusciotta are the leading scorers for the Trojans.

The Bears (16-1, 8-0) lead the ICCAC and have not lost in their last 10 games. Brent Taylor, Kiki deng and Rylan Smith all average double figures.

For the Iowa Central women (13-4, 6-3), they have won two straight and are 5-2 at home under first-year head coach Graham McFall. Trista Ohlmeier leads at 14 points and 11 rebounds a game, as Izzy Bassett adds 10.5 and Ashlin Jacobsen 10.3 points per contest.

The No. 14 Trojans (14-2, 8-2) have reeled off four consecutive and are 5-0 away from home on the season. Reggi Spotts is the top scorer for NIACC on the year.

The Bears (13-4, 5-4) are looking to snap a four-game losing skid, but have won six of seven on the road. Alivia Carr leads at 15.5 points per game.
