Soup supper will support mission work

First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge will hold a soup supper on Saturday to support its mission work.

The supper will be served from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the church, 1115 Fifth Ave. N. It will be in the Christian Life Center on the south side of the church, so people should enter on the 12th Street side.

The menu will consist of beef vegetable and chicken noodle soups plus chili. There will also be cinnamon rolls, crackers, a relish tray and drinks.

Tickets are $10 for ages 13 and up. Tickets for kids ages 12 and younger are $5.

Take out orders will be available.

All money raised from the soup supper will support the church’s mission ministry.

The mission ministry consists of eight congregation members who meet monthly to manage the mission operations and budget. This ministry allocates funds in the Fort Dodge community and beyond.

Last year, the ministry provided financial assistance, along with the First Presbyterian Church Foundation, for a mission trip to Guatemala. During that trip, 29 people constructed four homes around Antigua, Guatemala. They stayed with families in Guatemala.

First Presbyterian Church has been involved in mission work in Guatemala for about 15 years.

In the future, the ministry plans to alternate international trips with ones in the United States. There will also be some long weekend trips for youths and adults to serve families in need.
